It covers adult offenders reported by participating county detention centers, the South Carolina Department of Corrections, and the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services. Lancaster County Detention Center is expressly named in the state's county contact directory. Its participation is documented, not inferred.
The same service can therefore display county detention, state-prison, or community-supervision information. Those are different records. The reporting-agency field tells which one is speaking. A status change from LCDC concerns Lancaster County custody. An SCDC status concerns a state sentence. An SCDPPPS result concerns probation, parole, or community supervision after custody. Telephone calls repeat for up to 48 hours or until the PIN is entered. The SC VINE FAQ states that email and text registration do not use that telephone PIN. A notification can arrive before the permanent release record is easy to obtain, so keep the message and confirm its meaning with the named agency.
Lancaster Transfers Need New Registration
Lancaster has an important local notification rule. SC VINE explicitly lists LCDC, and its FAQ warns that a county-to-SCDC transfer requires registration again. An alert tied to Lancaster County detention does not automatically follow the person into state corrections. The first alert may mark the end of county custody while the person remains confined.
Read the transfer as a chain: LCDC status change, receiving-agency confirmation, then a new registration under the receiving agency. If the person enters SCDC, search with the SCDC or SID number when available and inspect the current state record. If community supervision follows a state release, SCDPPPS becomes the relevant reporting source. Keep each agency's date and status separate.
Lancaster State Notification Channels
VINELink registration and formal SCDC crime-victim notification are related but distinct. Keep the final statement precise: identify the reporting agency, the status and date shown, the person and identifier matched, and the agency record used to confirm it.
