It does not advertise a same-day release feed, a released-person tab, or an archive of closed bookings. The official-source sweep found no separate Lancaster County list for the prior day. That means the live roster cannot be relabeled as a 24-hour release list. It can prove current Lancaster County Detention Center custody when a matching record appears, but it cannot explain why a prior entry disappeared.
A person may leave the roster after posting bond, completing a local term, receiving a court-ordered release, or being transferred to another custodian. A correction to the record can also affect what appears. Each event has a different meaning. Release to the community is not the same as transfer to the South Carolina Department of Corrections, another jail, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration custody. The dated Lancaster booking and release entry is the county source that separates those outcomes.
Check Lancaster Same-Day Releases
A same-day check works best when it follows the custody trail. Record the person's full name, date of birth if known, and any subject or booking number. Those details reduce the risk of joining two people with similar names. Note the time of each check as well. Online custody data and court events may update on different schedules, and the sheriff does not publish a refresh promise for closed bookings.
- Search the official Lancaster current-inmate inquiry. A matching in-custody result supports current LCDC custody at that moment.
- Search the named person through SC VINE. Note the reporting agency and whether the result concerns detention, state corrections, or community supervision.
- Check the Lancaster court case for a same-day bond order, disposition, or sentence event. A court event explains authority to release, but not the exact door-out time.
- Call LCDC at 803-283-2084 for current-status direction. Record the date, time, number called, and the narrow fact staff confirmed.
- Request the booking and release entry through Lancaster County when durable proof is needed. Ask for release date, time, type, and receiving agency if public.

Lancaster Roster Release Limits
The official inquiry accepts name, subject number, booking number, booking-date ranges, assigned facility, and an in-custody selection. Results can show a photo, name, custody value, race, gender, and whether more than one booking exists. Inspected detail records included booking and bond information but did not establish a released-person date or reason. The roster is therefore useful for ruling in current custody, not reconstructing all Lancaster County releases during a past day.

The screen can support a time-stamped current-custody check. It cannot turn an absent result into a release type, release time, or destination.

Lancaster publishes two bond-hearing sessions each day, at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The hearings use video between the Magistrate's Office and LCDC. This schedule can explain why a custody change may follow a same-day court event. Yet a favorable ruling is not the release itself. Conditions must be met, paperwork must be processed, and staff must check for other holds before the person can leave.
The sheriff limits those sessions to bond matters and routes other proceedings to Central Court. A person may also remain held on another case, warrant, or detainer after bond changes in one matter. Compare the court event with the dated jail entry. No official Lancaster source states a standard door-out time, a set processing delay, or a separate weekend cutoff.

Lancaster Release Channel Differences
SC VINE supplies live custody and supervision clues and can send a status-change alert. It is not a permanent release archive. The South Carolina Judicial Branch public index may show a bond decision, dismissal, sentence, or other disposition, but it usually does not give the jail's exact exit time. Sheriff news and social channels publish selected public-safety items. They are editorial sources, not a complete set of Lancaster County releases.
No official Lancaster sheriff jail or recent-release mobile app was found. That negative finding matters. A mobile app from another county cannot be used as a Lancaster source, and the sheriff's news page cannot stand in for a 24-hour feed. Official images or posts may document one selected event without saying who else left custody that day.
For an SCDC prisoner, use the SCDC Released Inmate Search. It requires a date range and county and can be narrowed to one day, but it covers state corrections releases. It does not list every LCDC bond-out. A current SCDC search likewise covers people incarcerated in state corrections as of its prior-day cutoff, not former Lancaster jail detainees.
Lancaster 24 Versus 72 Hours
A same-day check is best for a recent call, alert, or court event. A three-day review helps reconcile changes that span a weekend, several court entries, or more than one roster snapshot. Lancaster County publishes neither window as an official feed, so the difference is in the dates a researcher checks and requests, not in two sheriff databases.
Use the Released Last 72 Hours process when one day is too narrow. Keep the county and state tracks separate in either window. LCDC releases require county confirmation; SCDC discharges use the state released search; federal or immigration custody requires the responsible federal system.
Note: A person still shown in custody has not yet been released by that reporting agency, even if a court authorized release.
